Recognizing millennia-old Native cultures

Native cultures are thousands of years old. They have survived thanks to their tenacity and courage, and in spite of colonial attempts to exterminate them. For the descendants of these first peoples, affirming their culture has now become a very important issue. In today's modern world, with globalization of societies worldwide, the goal now is to revive their links with their past and the land, express them in their own ways, create their own identities and pass along their values and heritage to the next generation, so that they in turn will still have a heritage to bequeath. Today these Native cultures are set in the heart of Westernized societies - which must recognize their tremendous value in terms of history, culture and ways of seeing and understanding the world. The goal for everyone is to find the openness within themselves that will allow them to accomplish all this together.
